Prior to implementation
Following reinstatement of chain-of-ponds systems and other landscape rehydration interventions, farm productivity and profitability significantly improved; soil organic matter increased by several orders of magnitude; greater local recycling of nutrients; significant biodiversity improvements.
After implementation
The holistic approach was founded on the goal of developing a farming system that is economically, environmentally and socially regenerative. It was important for acknowledge that management decisions caused the erosion, weeds, and economic problems and that only by changing these management decisions could regenerative processes be aided to achieve the desired positive outcomes.
